Dr. Russell Cooper is the VP of Innovation at BlueHalo. He leads early programs and IRAD across the BlueHalo portfolio, but is particularly interested in Space, AI/ML, and Directed Energy.
Prior to working at BlueHalo he was an Aerospace Corporation employee supporting Space Rapid Capabilities Office. He led the technical baseline for one of the office’s flagship programs. Russell started his career at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) space vehicles directorate where he held various technical and leadership roles including next generation fuel development, space weather impacts to space domain awareness ISR lead for DARPA Blackjack and working as chief engineer on SSC CASINO.
Russell holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Goettingen in Germany (with stops at University of California Santa Barbara and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics in China) and Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Montana State.
